Aave V3 Launches on Monad, Integrating Advanced DeFi with High-Performance Chain

On July 3rd, the Aave protocol successfully deployed its V3 lending and borrowing markets on the Monad blockchain. Monad is an emerging Layer 1 network designed for extreme throughput and low latency. This move represents a strategic expansion of a major DeFi primitive onto a next-generation execution environment.

Diverse Asset Support and a Protocol-First Feature

The initial launch introduces a comprehensive money market supporting 12 different assets, allowing users to collateralize and borrow across a varied portfolio. The supported assets include:

  • Major Stablecoins: USDT, USDC
  • Native Protocol Stablecoin: Aave's GHO
  • Innovative Stable Assets: USDe, mUSD, AUSD
  • Liquid Staking Tokens (LSTs): wstETH, weETH
  • Wrapped & Yield-Bearing Assets: WETH, cbBTC, syrupUSDC, sUSDe

A key innovation in this deployment is the inaugural activation of Chainlink's Smart Value Recovery (SVR) mechanism from day one. This system is designed to identify and recapture a portion of the Maximum Extractable Value (MEV) generated during liquidations, redirecting that value back to the Aave protocol treasury, potentially benefiting stakeholders.

Substantial Incentives to Bootstrap Liquidity

To ensure rapid adoption and deep liquidity, the launch is backed by significant financial commitments from both sides.

The Monad Foundation has allocated $15 million in incentive funding over the first 12 months to reward depositors and borrowers. Furthermore, the Foundation has agreed to purchase 10 million GHO tokens (Aave's stablecoin) and hold them for a minimum of six months, providing substantial initial buy-side pressure and stability for GHO.

In parallel, the Aave DAO has committed 500,000 GHO in additional incentives specifically aimed at supporting applications building on top of Aave within the Monad ecosystem. This two-sided capital commitment underscores a strong belief in the long-term viability of this integration.
