Solving the Scale Problem of Human-Centric Research
Relying on human participants for studies and product testing is inherently limited. It's slow, expensive, and often fails to capture the vast diversity of global populations. The MatrAIx project was born to overcome these constraints, creating a "digital twin" of humanity for large-scale, ethical, and efficient experimentation.
8.3 Billion Agents, Each with a Unique Profile
The system's foundation is a massive dataset combining nearly 600,000 real human data points with 400,000 AI-synthesized entries. From this, it generated 8.3 billion virtual agents—one for every person on the planet.
These aren't simple bots. Each agent is defined by a rich set of 1290 personality and behavioral tags, encompassing:
- Demographics: Age, geographic location, profession.
- Psychological Traits: Extroversion, conscientiousness, risk tolerance.
- Behavioral Tendencies: Shopping habits, information processing, social interaction styles.
This granularity allows each AI to act as a distinct, believable digital individual.
Living in Simulated Digital Worlds
To validate the system, researchers built four realistic testing environments: survey platforms, AI chat interfaces, web browsers, and mobile app simulators. They integrated over 1,000 specific tasks across 25 sectors, including e-commerce, finance, and healthcare.
Within these environments, the AI agents autonomously perform complex actions: completing detailed surveys, engaging in multi-turn customer service chats, browsing and making simulated purchase decisions, or navigating health app workflows. In tests, their behavior showed a 91.5% consistency with expected human responses, demonstrating remarkable fidelity.
