Air Force Commander Faces Massive Liquidation

On January 29, data from Coinbob and Coinglass indicated that BTC led liquidations over the last 24 hours. The largest single liquidation occurred on Hyperliquid, where a whale known as the 'Air Force Commander' lost $12.47 million in a single long position.

Price Swings Trigger Liquidations

After BTC briefly surged past $90,000 early that morning, the whale increased their long position with 40x leverage, pushing their total exposure to $63.2 million. However, as BTC prices dropped, the whale faced liquidation of 140 BTC (around $12.47 million) at 5:02 AM, followed by another 112.2 BTC ($9.9 million) in subsequent hours, totaling $22.37 million in losses.

Current Position and Risk Exposure

Currently, the whale still holds a $39.81 million BTC long position with 40x leverage, at an average price of $89,530 and a liquidation price of $88,390. With a floating loss of $380,000 (-39%), their account balance has dropped below $1 million. Previously one of the largest shorts across BTC and ETH, with exposure near $500 million, this whale has recently suffered multiple liquidations and has since shifted to long exposure.
