Binance Revises Leverage Trading Offerings: Eight Tokens Set for Removal

Binance has announced a significant update to its suite of margin trading and borrowing services. Effective October 2 at 18:00, the platform will cease support for eight specific tokens, removing them from its trading lists entirely.

List of Affected Tokens

The tokens impacted by this service discontinuation are:

  • REQ (Request)
  • WIN (WINkLink)
  • GNS (Gains Network)
  • TFUEL (Theta Fuel)
  • GNO (Gnosis)
  • QKC (QuarkChain)
  • LAZIO (S.S. Lazio Fan Token)
  • OSMO (Osmosis)

After the specified deadline, users will no longer be able to open new leveraged positions or borrow any of these assets.

Required User Actions

Users with exposure to these assets need to take proactive steps. All open leveraged positions and outstanding loans involving the listed tokens must be closed or repaid before 18:00 on October 2.

If any positions or loans remain active after the cutoff, the system will automatically trigger a forced liquidation to settle them. To avoid potential losses from unfavorable market conditions during an automatic close-out, manual management before the deadline is strongly recommended.

Potential Reasons Behind the Update

Periodic reviews and adjustments of listed assets are standard practice for major exchanges. Decisions like this one typically result from a comprehensive evaluation of factors such as a token's trading liquidity, market activity, project development progress, and shifting user demand.

By refining its supported asset roster, an exchange can enhance the overall trading environment and risk management framework, focusing resources on more liquid and widely demanded cryptocurrencies.

For users holding these tokens, it's often possible to trade them on the spot market or withdraw them to a private wallet for a period after margin services end. It is advisable to monitor Binance's official channels for any follow-up announcements regarding the specific handling of these assets.
