Binance Initiates Nokia Cash Dividend Distribution Through bStocks

In an official announcement dated July 27, the global cryptocurrency exchange unveiled a dividend distribution plan for holders of a specific stock token. The initiative focuses on disbursing cash dividends from Nokia Corporation to users who hold the corresponding tokenized stock on its platform.

How the Dividend is Processed and Distributed

The distribution will be executed directly via the exchange's bStocks tokenized stock service. The process is designed to be automatic and seamless for users. According to the official procedure, upon receiving the cash dividend from Nokia, the platform will first deduct all applicable withholding taxes, handling fees, and associated operational costs.

The critical next step is that the net dividend will not be distributed as cash to user accounts. Instead, it will be immediately used to purchase an equivalent value of the underlying Nokia stock on the market. These newly acquired shares will be credited directly to eligible users' accounts as additional units or fractional shares of the bStocks token. This effectively constitutes a dividend reinvestment plan.

Which Users Are Eligible?

This dividend distribution is exclusively for users holding balances of NOKB, the specific tokenized stock representing Nokia, on the platform. Eligibility will be determined based on a snapshot taken at a specified time, as detailed in the official announcement.

The distribution mechanism varies depending on how users hold their assets:

  • For users holding NOKB directly on the exchange, the dividend will be automatically credited to their accounts in the form of NOKB bStocks tokens.
  • For users holding NOKB in on-chain addresses, such as self-custody wallets, the platform will employ a "multiplier adjustment" technical method to ensure these holders also receive their entitled dividend distribution.

This move underscores the platform's ongoing efforts to bridge traditional financial assets with the crypto ecosystem, offering users a streamlined way to participate in corporate dividend events while simplifying asset management through automatic reinvestment.
