Bitcoin ETFs Shatter Records with Unprecedented Three-Week Inflow Streak
The US spot Bitcoin ETF market is witnessing a powerful resurgence of investor interest. Fresh data reveals that these funds attracted approximately $986.9 million in net inflows during the week ending September 5th. This surge has propelled the total net inflow over the past three weeks to a staggering $38 billion, marking the strongest three-week performance for this asset class since 2026 and representing a week-over-week increase of roughly 7%.
Daily Flows Highlight Dominance of Industry Giants
The inflows have not been evenly distributed. On Friday, September 6th, daily net inflows settled at $174.6 million, a notable cooldown from the previous day's high of over $731 million. The flow pattern for the day was highly concentrated:
- BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) led the pack, drawing in about $117.4 million, which accounted for approximately 67% of the day's total net inflow.
- Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) recorded a net inflow of $57.2 million.
- Other US spot Bitcoin ETFs saw zero net inflows for the day.
This divergence underscores a clear investor preference for the liquidity and scale offered by products from major, established asset managers during this recovery phase.
Market Performance Mirrors Capital Movements
The capital inflows interacted dynamically with Bitcoin's price action. On the day of the data release, Bitcoin's price briefly dipped below the $79,000 level before recovering to trade around $79,700. Despite intraday volatility, the premier cryptocurrency managed to post a gain of about 2.6% over the past seven days.
By the close of trading on Friday, the total net assets under management for all US spot Bitcoin ETFs had climbed to approximately $101.3 billion, with cumulative net inflows since launch reaching $55.6 billion.
A Lingering Concern: Year-to-Date Inflows Remain Negative
Despite the impressive recent figures, a significant headwind remains. Due to substantial outflows earlier in the year, the aggregate year-to-date net inflow for US spot Bitcoin ETFs still sits at approximately negative $1 billion. This serves as a reminder that the recent bullish momentum has not yet fully erased the challenges faced earlier in 2026, and the sustainability of this recovery will be closely watched.
Inflows Cool for Other Major Crypto Asset ETFs
In contrast to Bitcoin's rally, spot ETFs for other major digital assets experienced a significant slowdown in capital attraction:
- Spot Ethereum ETFs saw weekly net inflows drop to $218.4 million, a sharp decline of about 74% from the prior week.
- Spot XRP ETFs recorded a weekly net inflow of just $19 million, plummeting roughly 83% week-over-week.
Year-to-date, spot Ethereum and XRP ETFs have accumulated net inflows of approximately $863 million and $515 million, respectively—figures that pale in comparison to Bitcoin's dominance. This trend highlights that investor focus and capital, for now, remain intensely concentrated on the original cryptocurrency.
