Bitcoin Mining's Remarkable Rebound: Key Metrics Signal Industry Revival

The Bitcoin mining sector, after months of strain, is showing clear signs of a powerful recovery. Fresh on-chain data reveals a broad-based improvement across critical industry metrics, suggesting the deepest part of the downturn may be over.

A Surge in Revenue and Profitability

The most striking shift is in daily revenue. Compared to the lows seen in July, total daily earnings for Bitcoin miners have soared by approximately 78%, climbing from around $27 million to a peak near $48 million. This surge aligns closely with Bitcoin's price recovery of about 45% from its $58,000 bottom.

A more nuanced measure of mining economics is the "Hash Price," which estimates daily revenue per unit of hashing power (per PH/s). This key metric recently breached $40 per day, reaching its highest level since January. Although it has since moderated to around $39, it marks a substantial recovery from its June low near $27.70.

From "Unsustainable" to "Reasonable" Margins

The fundamental improvement in miner profitability is captured by the Miner Profit/Loss Sustainability indicator. It shows the industry has transitioned from a state of "severe capitulation" between May and August to one of "reasonable reward" since August 21st. This pivot indicates a meaningful reduction in operational stress for miners.

Strengthening Network Fundamentals

The recovery extends beyond income, with the network's foundation showing greater resilience:

  • Hash Rate Recovery: The global Bitcoin hash rate has rebounded to approximately 962 EH/s, up from 899 EH/s at the end of July, signaling more miners coming online or new capacity being added.
  • Reduced Selling Pressure: The "extreme outflow" of Bitcoin from miners to exchanges has not persisted. Recent daily outflows have leveled off around 12,000 BTC.

The analysis notes that Bitcoin's 365-day moving average (currently near $80,000) acts as a crucial short-term support level. The sustainability of the current mining rebound may depend on the market's ability to hold above this threshold.
