Strategic Shift in Sui's DeFi Landscape: Bluewater Acquires Lending Protocol Suilend

The decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem on the Sui blockchain has witnessed a significant consolidation. Bluewater, a DeFi development team, has finalized the acquisition of Suilend, a prominent lending protocol within the Sui network. The deal also includes Suilend's associated ecosystem products.

Independence Preserved: The Post-Acquisition Roadmap

A core tenet of this acquisition is the continued autonomy of the Suilend platform. Despite the change in ownership, Suilend will maintain its independent operations, brand identity, product direction, and core infrastructure. This ensures continuity for its existing user base and community.

The transition will be managed with a gradual, security-first approach. Users do not need to take any action; all existing positions and protocol functionalities will remain fully operational throughout the process.

New Leadership and Planned Integration

The acquisition brings a change in leadership. Zabi, co-founder of Bluefin, will take the helm as the new CEO of Suilend, signaling a new phase of growth for the protocol under fresh guidance.

While Suilend and Bluefin will retain separate legal entities and brands, the two teams plan to pursue deeper integration in key areas to enhance their combined offerings. Future collaboration may focus on:

  • Trading: Streamlining asset exchange workflows.
  • Lending Services: Improving capital efficiency and borrowing options.
  • Collateral: Expanding the range of supported assets.
  • Liquidity: Building more robust and interconnected liquidity pools.

A Note on the SEND Token

It is important to clarify that this acquisition deal does not include the SEND token. Distribution of SEND tokens to holders will be handled through a separate, dedicated liquidation process. Token holders should await further official communications for specific details regarding this procedure.
