AscendEX Exchange Shuts Down, Enters Limited Service Phase

As of July 1, 2026, cryptocurrency exchange AscendEX has officially terminated all business operations. This move ends all new trading and financial services on the platform.

Key Factors Behind the Shutdown

The platform's announcement cited a combination of reasons for the closure. The most significant driver was the full enforcement of the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation on the same date. AscendEX did not secure the necessary licensing to operate under this new regulatory framework.

The decision also followed a comprehensive review of tightening global regulations, the platform's financial health, and ongoing operational hurdles. Together, these challenges led management to cease operations.

What Functions Remain Available?

Since the shutdown, users can no longer:

  • Register new accounts or deposit funds
  • Execute any trades or token swaps
  • Access staking, wealth management, or lending products
  • Participate in promotional or reward programs

Provided systems remain operational and no legal restrictions are in place, user accounts will retain limited "exit" functions. These primarily include:

  • Submitting withdrawal requests
  • Updating identity verification information
  • Contacting customer support or filing inquiries
  • Exporting personal transaction history

Important Changes to the Withdrawal Process

A critical update concerns asset withdrawals, which are handled separately from licensing issues. Starting July 6, 2026, the withdrawal procedure has changed significantly.

All withdrawal requests are now subject to manual review, as the platform's automated withdrawal channel has been completely suspended. This will likely lead to longer processing times.

The announcement clearly states that the platform cannot guarantee processing times for withdrawal requests and cannot commit to the final amount that may be processed. This indicates potential uncertainties and delays in the withdrawal process.

For users with remaining assets on the platform, submitting a withdrawal request promptly and monitoring its status is currently the top priority.
