Deepening Regulatory Dialogue Between China and Singapore

The 10th China-Singapore Securities and Futures Regulatory Roundtable was recently held in Singapore, co-chaired by Liu Haoling, Vice Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), and Ho Hern Shin, Deputy Managing Director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). Over 40 representatives from regulatory bodies, stock exchanges, and industry participants joined both in person and online.

Building on Concrete Achievements

Participants reviewed the practical outcomes of bilateral capital market cooperation in recent years. Key progress was noted in areas such as joint index development and the expansion of the Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) connectivity scheme. These initiatives have provided investors with more diversified portfolio options while enhancing market liquidity.

Engaging on Critical Themes

The roundtable featured in-depth exchanges on several forward-looking topics:

  • Market Evolution: Sharing updates on regulatory reforms and market development strategies;
  • Technology and Supervision: Exploring how AI and big data are transforming surveillance and enforcement approaches;
  • Cross-Border Operations: Addressing regulatory challenges faced by firms operating across both jurisdictions.

Paving the Way Forward

This session reinforced the long-standing communication channel between the CSRC and MAS. With contributions from senior officials including Lim Tuang Lee, Assistant Managing Director of MAS, the discussions laid groundwork for closer coordination in risk management and investor protection. The outcomes are expected to further align both markets for efficient cross-border capital flows.
