BitMine Unveils Latest Treasury Holdings and Major Share Buyback

Recent disclosures paint a picture of robust growth for cryptocurrency asset manager BitMine. As of August 2nd, Eastern Time, the total value of its holdings—encompassing cryptocurrencies, cash, and a special portfolio internally dubbed the "Moonshot Plan"—has reached $11.3 billion.

Core Asset Allocation: Ethereum Takes Center Stage

Ethereum is the unequivocal cornerstone of BitMine's asset strategy. Its ETH holdings now stand at 5,797,813, reflecting an increase of 10,399 tokens from the previous week. This substantial position means BitMine controls approximately 4.8% of Ethereum's total current supply (around 120.7 million), underscoring its significant influence within the Ethereum ecosystem.

Beyond Ethereum, the firm's portfolio demonstrates diversification:

  • 207 Bitcoin (BTC)
  • $180 million in equity of Beast Industries
  • $61 million in shares of Eightco Holdings (Nasdaq: ORBS)
  • $173 million in unencumbered cash, ensuring strong liquidity

Large-Scale Staking and Asset Valuation

BitMine is not just a passive holder but an active network participant. As of August 2, 2026, the company has staked a total of 4,917,189 ETH. Valued at approximately $1,880 per ETH at that time, this staked portion represents a staggering $9.2 billion in assets, generating consistent staking rewards.

Concurrent Share Repurchase Strengthens Shareholder Value

While expanding its digital asset treasury, BitMine is also executing strategic moves in the capital markets. Chairman Tom Lee revealed that the firm repurchased 4.5 million shares of its common stock just last week. This brings the cumulative total under its buyback program to over 16 million shares.

Lee emphasized that this repurchase initiative stands as the largest of its kind to date, whether viewed through the lens of its Ethereum, Bitcoin, or broader Digital Asset Treasury (DAT) strategy. This move sends a clear signal of management's confidence in the company's long-term value and its commitment to returning capital to shareholders by reducing the share count.

Taken together, BitMine's recent actions outline a coherent dual-track strategy: aggressively accumulating core crypto assets, particularly Ethereum, to cement its industry position and capture growth, while simultaneously enhancing per-share value through disciplined capital returns via stock buybacks.
