Significant Breakthrough in Tracking MicroStrategy's Bitcoin Treasury
In a major development for on-chain analytics, a substantial portion of MicroStrategy's colossal Bitcoin holdings has now been mapped. Blockchain intelligence platform Arkham reports that approximately 78% of the company's Bitcoin reserves have been identified and tagged on the blockchain.
The Scale of Assets and Tracking Specifics
The tracked amount constitutes the majority of MicroStrategy's total holdings of roughly 847,700 BTC. A breakdown reveals:
- On-Chain Assets Tagged: Valued at approximately $40.28 billion.
- Custodied Assets: An additional ~$15.5 billion worth of Bitcoin is flagged as being held in custody by Fidelity.
Overall, at the time of the snapshot, MicroStrategy's Bitcoin treasury was valued at around $71.4 billion, cementing its position as the largest corporate holder of the cryptocurrency.
The Shift from Opacity to Growing Transparency
MicroStrategy's co-founder Michael Saylor has historically maintained a policy of not publicly disclosing the company's Bitcoin wallet addresses, a move aimed at bolstering security and operational privacy. However, the inherent transparency of blockchain data coupled with advancing analytical techniques has made concealing such large-scale positions increasingly challenging.
Arkham began its systematic effort to identify and label wallets associated with MicroStrategy in May 2025, and has now catalogued the bulk of its holdings. A portion of the treasury, however, remains unidentified, suggesting the full extent of its Bitcoin footprint is not yet completely visible.
This tracking milestone provides market observers with a clearer picture and reignites discussions on corporate crypto asset transparency, on-chain auditing, and the market implications of such significant concentrated holdings.
