A Historic Quarter for DRAM: Record Revenue and Growth
The global DRAM market delivered an exceptional performance in the second quarter of 2026. Industry data reveals market revenue reached $147.02 billion, representing a striking 55.9% increase from the previous quarter. This figure not only signifies substantial market expansion but also sets a new all-time high for single-quarter revenue in the sector.
Powered by Demand and Favorable Pricing
Behind this record lies robust demand, particularly from the server segment. Major manufacturers actively shifted their focus in Q2, prioritizing the sale of high-value products like server DRAM and High Bandwidth Memory (HBM). The growth in these segments served as the primary engine for revenue expansion.
The pricing environment remained supportive. Although the average selling price (ASP) for server and PC DRAM, which had doubled in Q1, saw a moderated increase of 40%-50% in Q2, the upward price trend held firm. This combination of rising volume and price directly fueled a significant quarter-over-quarter jump in manufacturer revenue.
Looking Ahead: Sustained Growth with a Shift in Tempo
The outlook for the third quarter introduces new dynamics. Some manufacturers have already locked in price ceilings with key server clients through long-term agreements, indicating that the room for price increases via these contracts is narrowing.
Concurrently, price hikes in the non-contract market are also expected to decelerate each quarter. As a result, while DRAM ASP is projected to continue rising in Q3, the pace of increase is likely to become more gradual.
Nevertheless, the growth narrative remains intact. With pricing still providing support, the bit shipment volume of DRAM is anticipated to achieve positive growth in the coming quarter. Driven by this expected increase in shipments, industry consensus points toward manufacturer revenue reaching another historic peak in Q3, underscoring the market's underlying resilience.
