etherFi Activates Precautionary Security Protocol
In light of recent developments surrounding the Kelp rsETH event within the DeFi ecosystem, the etherFi protocol has enacted a series of precautionary security measures. The platform clarified via its official communications that its core Liquid vaults are not directly exposed to the risks associated with this incident.
Details of Temporary Service Adjustments
As an initial preventive step, etherFi has temporarily suspended the following core functionalities:
- Cross-Chain Bridging Halted: The bridging functionality for weETH and eETH assets via the LayerZero network has been disabled.
- Asset Transfers Frozen: Deposit and withdrawal operations for multiple asset products within its Liquid vaults, including ETH, BTC, USD, sETHFI, and eBTC, have been simultaneously paused.
- Contract Path Blocked: Relevant Teller contracts have been suspended to completely sever the bridging pathway via the LayerZero OFT standard, mitigating potential risk propagation.
Rationale and Forward Path
etherFi emphasized that these actions are solely proactive, driven by the priority of safeguarding user assets, and not due to any confirmed direct impact. The team is now working closely with leading blockchain security partners to conduct a thorough root-cause analysis. The protocol has committed to resuming all services only after obtaining clearer investigation results and ensuring absolute system security, with timely and transparent updates to be provided to the community.
