Google Hits $500B Revenue Run Rate as AI Fuels Growth

In a recent update, Google CEO Sundar Pichai revealed that the company's annualized revenue has reached the $500 billion mark. This achievement is closely tied to the accelerating impact of its artificial intelligence investments.

Record Search Growth and Soaring Model Scale

Pichai highlighted that AI investments are delivering tangible results, most notably in search. The overall volume of search queries, including commercial intent queries, is growing at its fastest pace in the last five years.

On the model front, Google's latest Gemini models are positioned at the industry forefront. The scale of operation is staggering: its first-party model APIs now process nearly 320 billion tokens per minute, a figure that has more than quadrupled in just one year, demonstrating a massive expansion in computational throughput.

Cloud Momentum and Hardware Demand

The growth wave extends to Google's infrastructure business. Pichai noted that Google Cloud revenue grew 103% in the last quarter. He also emphasized "strong demand" for the company's custom Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) across a diverse range of customers.

YouTube Music and Premium Surpass 150 Million Subscribers

On the consumer side, Google announced a significant user milestone. The combined subscriber count for YouTube Music and YouTube Premium, including users on trials, has now crossed 150 million.

This figure underscores the substantial market adoption of YouTube's premium offerings. Coupled with the previously announced 1 billion users for Gemini apps, it points to parallel progress in monetizing services and scaling AI-powered products.

Sustaining Momentum in a Competitive Landscape

While the numbers are strong, Google navigates a space of intense competition. The ongoing challenge will be to translate technological leadership in AI into durable business advantages and superior user experiences. The expanding subscriber base also sets a higher bar for deepening content ecosystems and refining service value.
