ICE Aims to Bridge Crypto and Traditional Finance for US Retail

In a significant move announced on October 29th, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) revealed plans to enter the competitive US retail trading arena. The exchange giant intends to launch a regulated marketplace for perpetual futures contracts.

A Dedicated Venue for Everyday Traders

This new trading platform will operate independently from ICE's established institutional futures business. Its primary focus will be servicing the needs of non-professional, retail traders.

The venue promises around-the-clock trading access to a diverse portfolio of assets. Traders will be able to speculate on the price movements of cryptocurrencies, equities, indices, commodities, and foreign exchange pairs.

Compliance-First Access and Regulatory Roadmap

Access to the platform will be strictly gated through US-regulated Futures Commission Merchants (FCMs). These brokers will be responsible for conducting mandatory Know-Your-Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks on all users.

One expected access point is a joint venture established by ICE with a major global exchange. The partners are currently in the process of seeking regulatory green lights to launch a KYC-compliant perpetuals market built on Hyperliquid's infrastructure, with hopes of eventually securing permissions for leveraged trading.
