French Crypto Industry Faces Regulatory Deadline

The French Financial Markets Authority (AMF) has issued a new notice stating that under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, digital asset service providers (DASPs) operating in France must transition and obtain authorization as crypto asset service providers (CASPs) by July 1, 2026.

Severe Consequences for Unauthorized Operators

AMF emphasized that any service providers failing to secure authorization by this deadline will no longer be allowed to operate in the crypto space. Those continuing operations without authorization will face legal penalties, including up to two years in prison and fines of up to €30,000. Additionally, AMF may publish blacklists and implement website blocking measures.

Organizations Are Urged to Act Promptly

For companies still waiting, AMF advises submitting complete and high-quality applications as soon as possible. Entities not planning to continue should start preparing an orderly exit strategy to protect users and minimize market disruption.
