Indonesia Endorses China-Pakistan Framework, Diplomacy as Central Path

In a recent statement, Indonesia's Foreign Minister highlighted the five-point peace initiative jointly proposed by China and Pakistan as a pragmatic set of measures designed to facilitate negotiations, achieve a lasting ceasefire, enhance civilian protection, and normalize economic relations. The Indonesian government has expressed its welcome and support for this initiative.

A Consistent Voice for Peace: Indonesia's Position

The Minister noted that since the onset of the current conflict, Indonesia has consistently called for all parties to cease hostilities immediately and return to the negotiating table, seeking solutions aligned with international law. He emphasized that prioritizing dialogue and diplomatic channels is essential for creating the conditions needed for peace, stability, and security in the region and beyond.

The Core Elements and Objectives of the Five-Point Plan

The joint China-Pakistan initiative for restoring peace and stability in the Gulf and Middle East outlines five key calls:

  • An immediate halt to all hostile actions;
  • The swift commencement of peace talks;
  • Ensuring the safety of non-military targets;
  • Securing vital maritime routes;
  • Upholding the primacy of the United Nations Charter.
This framework is viewed as a crucial effort to shift the current complex situation from confrontation to dialogue.
