Iran Delivers Stern Rebuke to US Proposal
Iranian authorities have issued a sharp critique of a comprehensive peace initiative reportedly originating from the United States. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baqeri confirmed that Tehran received a 15-point plan forwarded through Pakistan and several other friendly nations.
Plan Labeled "Overambitious and Illogical"
Baqeri did not mince words in his assessment. "Such proposals are not only excessively ambitious and unusual, but more critically, they lack logical coherence," he stated, firmly establishing Iran's dismissive stance towards the offer.
Iran Asserts Independent Strategic Framework
While rejecting the external plan, the spokesperson underscored Iran's autonomous decision-making process. "Based on a thorough evaluation of our national interests, we have systematically organized and established a complete framework of demands, encompassing both past and present considerations," Baqeri elaborated. This implies that Iran's actions will be guided by this internal framework rather than any externally imposed design.
Engagement with Mediators Not a Sign of Weakness
Addressing potential perceptions that Iran's interactions with intermediaries signal vulnerability, Baqeri offered a clear rebuttal. "The fact that Iran can respond swiftly and decisively to a proposal demonstrates our courage and resolve. This should in no way be misconstrued as submission to an adversary." This statement aims to reinforce Iran's image of maintaining an active and firm posture within complex diplomatic negotiations.
Core Demands to Be Revealed at Opportune Time
Despite outright rejecting the external proposal, Baqeri revealed that Tehran has finalized its core demands regarding the resolution of the current tensions. However, he added that these specifics would only be disclosed at what Iran deems the "appropriate time," indicating strategic caution and a desire to control the pace of any potential dialogue.
