Iran Elevates Hezbollah Support to Strategic Policy, Sets End to Israeli Operations as Precondition
On the evening of July 26, Iran's Supreme Leader Mujtaba Khamenei issued a formal response to a letter from Lebanon's Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem. The reply clarifies Tehran's core stance in the current Middle Eastern landscape.
Hezbollah Designated as Core Regional Resistance Force
In his letter, Khamenei emphasized that Hezbollah has evolved into a primary force resisting Israel and its backers. He noted the group's significance extends beyond the military sphere, becoming an important symbol inspiring opposition to hegemony and its proxies worldwide.
"Hezbollah's sustained perseverance relies not only on the dedication of its fighters but also on the steadfast support of the Lebanese people, particularly those in the southern regions," Khamenei wrote.
Backing Upgraded to Strategic Iranian Policy
Significantly, the response elevates support for Hezbollah to the level of strategic policy. Khamenei stated this position follows the path established by the late Supreme Leader Khamenei, indicating Iran's backing will be long-term, stable, and unshakable.
He further outlined Iran's core demands: preserving Lebanon's territorial integrity and achieving a complete, unconditional cessation of Israeli military operations against Lebanon.
Cessation of Operations as Key Condition for US Talks
Khamenei revealed that Iran has made ending Israeli military actions in Lebanon the primary precondition for reaching any understanding or memorandum with the United States regarding conflict resolution. This stance directly links regional security issues to major power diplomacy.
"The peoples of the world can no longer endure the oppression and atrocities of the United States and Israel," Khamenei concluded. "We will unwaveringly continue on the path of resistance."
