Jiang Zhuo’er Shifts Portfolio: Exits Bitcoin Short, Bets Big on Ethereum
BTC.top founder Jiang Zhuo’er has publicly adjusted his crypto market positions. He recently closed out a Bitcoin short trade and reallocated his entire portfolio into Ethereum spot, signaling a bullish stance on ETH’s near-term prospects.
The Thesis: Ethereum as the Rally Catalyst
This move is rooted in a clear market outlook that prioritizes Ethereum’s momentum.
- Leadership Role: Jiang views Ethereum as the primary engine of the current bull cycle. He notes that ETH’s recent price strength, pushing toward previous highs, could create a spillover effect, pulling Bitcoin and the broader market upward.
- ETF Inflows as a Backstop: The consistent net inflows into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs—including a record single-day inflow in early September—provide underlying market support. In this environment, he believes only short-term shorts are viable, not sustained bearish bets.
Risk Management and Re-entry Strategy
Despite his bullish tilt, Jiang remains prepared for a potential pullback with defined contingency plans.
Shorting Resistance: He indicated that if Bitcoin rallies into the $83,000–$84,000 range, he would consider re-establishing short positions. That zone is viewed as a major technical resistance level unlikely to break easily in the short term.
Buying the Dip: He is still waiting for a deeper correction. His ideal accumulation zone lies between $71,255 and $73,361, corresponding to the 50%–61.8% Fibonacci retracement levels. If the market doesn’t retreat that far, he plans to buy back in full by the end of October.
Validating the Trading Approach
Jiang also referenced two recent successful short trades: shorting ETH at $2,525 on August 22 and shorting BTC at $82,050 on September 4. He finds his current strategy—avoiding leverage and trading with full spot allocation—effective in navigating volatile conditions.
Overall, his approach blends trend conviction with disciplined level-based tactics: riding the momentum of the perceived market leader (ETH) while keeping tactical shorts ready at key resistance, all while reserving capital for potential pullback opportunities.
