US Market Capital Still Behind in Ethereum Understanding

Jiang Zhuole, founder of Poolin, recently noted that traditional US market capital still perceives Ethereum (ETH) at a level comparable to that of the crypto community in 2014-2015. Unlike Bitcoin’s (BTC) widely recognized ‘digital gold’ narrative, ETH’s ‘smart contracts’ remain a more complex concept for mainstream investors.

He also reviewed the two major surges in ETH’s value relative to BTC. The first occurred between 2016 and 2017, coinciding with the rise of Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs), where many new tokens were launched on the ETH blockchain. This period marked a turning point in ETH’s growing adoption and recognition.

  • ETH’s growth was closely tied to the ICO boom
  • Smart contracts enabled diverse blockchain applications
  • Mainstream investors need more time to grasp its value

Looking ahead, Jiang predicted a new ETH surge around 2026-2027, driven by the tokenization of traditional financial assets like USD, stocks, and bonds, potentially boosting ETH’s role as a foundational blockchain for financial innovation.
