Market Shift: Cryptocurrency ETFs See Crucial Reversal
The two-month streak of capital outflows has finally been broken. Latest figures show that US spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs collectively attracted a net inflow of $282 million this week. This reversal not only signals a potential shift in market sentiment but also offers investors a fresh perspective on the evolving landscape.
Bitcoin ETFs: Longest Outflow Cycle Ends
As a key market indicator, US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately $197 million in net inflows this week. While this figure may appear modest, its symbolic importance is substantial—it marks the end of eight consecutive weeks of outflows that began in early May.
Prior to this reversal, Bitcoin ETFs experienced their longest outflow cycle since launching in January 2024. Over those eight weeks, cumulative outflows reached roughly $8.26 billion. This week’s inflow represents only about 2.4% of that total, suggesting the recovery path remains gradual.
Ethereum ETFs: Outflow Trend Breaks in Sync
Ethereum spot ETFs mirrored Bitcoin’s movement, securing around $84 million in net inflows this week and likewise ending an eight-week outflow streak.
Notably, Ethereum’s previous outflow cycle matched a historical record. Over eight consecutive weeks, outflows totaled about $1.2 billion, equaling the longest outflow streak set between February and April 2025. This week’s inflow recouped roughly 7% of those outflows, showing a relatively stronger rebound compared to Bitcoin ETFs.
Broader Context and Long-Term View
Despite this week’s positive inflows, the broader market remains in net outflow territory year-to-date. Cumulative data shows that as of early 2026, Bitcoin ETFs have seen net outflows of approximately $5.34 billion, while Ethereum ETFs have recorded about $1.35 billion in net outflows.
Market analysts suggest several factors may be driving this week’s inflows:
- Technical Rebound: Some investors view the market as nearing a short-term bottom after extended declines
- Macroeconomic Shifts: Evolving expectations around interest rate policies may be influencing capital allocation
- Institutional Rebalancing: Quarterly portfolio adjustments by large investors could be contributing to flows
For everyday investors, while weekly data shifts are noteworthy, observing whether this trend sustains is more critical. Consistency in fund flows often reveals more about market health than isolated fluctuations.
