Massive Drone Assault on Moscow, Russia Claims Successful Interception
On June 20, the Russian capital of Moscow once again became the target of a drone attack. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin officially confirmed that Ukrainian forces had launched a new large-scale drone assault.
According to the Russian defense report, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 76 drones by evening. Authorities stressed that the attack resulted in no civilian casualties and caused no substantial damage to the city's critical infrastructure.
Oil Refinery Targeted, Halting Production Indefinitely
Around the same time, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released a combat update. The report stated that Ukrainian forces successfully struck a significant oil refinery in the Moscow region on June 18.
The attack damaged multiple core facilities at the refinery, including a large integrated oil processing unit and several storage tanks. Due to the severe damage, the refinery has completely and indefinitely halted all oil processing operations. This strike is seen as a direct blow to Russia's energy logistics chain.
Military Escalation Continues, Strikes Extend Beyond Frontlines
The strike on the Moscow refinery was not an isolated incident. The Ukrainian military's report indicated that from June 18 to the early hours of June 19, Ukrainian defense forces conducted a series of continued military operations.
These actions targeted multiple associated objectives within Russian territory, suggesting that the conflict's strike range is expanding deeper beyond the immediate frontline contact zones. Analysts view this as a sign that the strategic contest is entering a new phase.
Currently, neither side has disclosed specific plans for subsequent actions, but tensions along the frontline remain high.
