A New Era of Interchain Integration: Osmosis Merges with Cosmos Hub
A groundbreaking proposal is reshaping the future of the Cosmos ecosystem. Osmosis, a leading decentralized exchange, has put forward a plan to migrate its core protocol directly onto the Cosmos Hub, aiming to unify liquidity, strengthen security, and streamline governance across chains.
How the Token Conversion Will Work
If approved by both communities, approximately 665.1 million existing tokens will be convertible to ATOM within a six-month window. The exchange ratio—0.0355 ATOM for every 1.998 units—is based on the 30-day TWAP of the ATOM:OSMO price leading up to March 11, 2026, ensuring a fair and stable transition.
Funding Readiness and Resource Management
The Cosmos Hub community pool currently holds around 10.11 million ATOM, covering about 85% of the required reserves. The remaining 1.75 million ATOM—just 0.35% of total supply—can be sourced through existing funding mechanisms. Any unclaimed ATOM after the redemption period will be returned to the community pool, preserving ecosystem value.
- Enables seamless cross-chain asset movement
- Strengthens network security and governance alignment
- Reduces liquidity fragmentation
- Improves user experience and capital efficiency
This merger represents more than a technical upgrade—it's a strategic evolution toward a unified, interconnected blockchain network. As layers converge, the entire ecosystem could see enhanced value accrual and long-term sustainability.
