Why PAPER Tokens Remain Non-Transferable: Papertrade's Strategic Rationale

Papertrade has clearly stated that there are no immediate plans to enable external transfers for PAPER tokens. This decision stems from security considerations rather than technical limitations. The team highlighted that if PAPER became freely tradable and could be shorted on external markets, attackers could potentially manipulate prices of major assets like BTC and ETH while shorting PAPER to profit from both sides. Such arbitrage attacks could undermine platform stability, prompting the decision to keep tokens non-transferable outside contracts for now.

Fee Adjustments: Targeted Impact on Trading Strategies

The platform will implement phased adjustments to trading fees, but these changes are highly specific. Only trades where the closing price is within 0.06% or 0.1% of the opening price will be affected; fees for transactions beyond these thresholds remain unchanged. Based on historical data backtesting since launch, these fine-tuned adjustments are expected to impact the profitability of automated bot strategies approximately 15 times more than that of regular manual traders. The team believes this not only optimizes the fee structure but also creates room to potentially increase position size limits for open contracts in the future.

Token Minting Overhaul: Dynamic Weighting and Long-Term Balance

Papertrade is introducing a more dynamic token issuance mechanism. Moving forward, for every $1 million in losses incurred by the platform, new tokens equivalent to roughly 0.1% of the current PAPER supply will be minted, with the exact ratio depending on the minting rate set during contract upgrades. More significantly, when the treasury pool is near or under solvency pressure, the old rule of "minting 100 PAPER per $1 of loss" will be replaced. The new mechanism employs a time-weighted multiplier, meaning minting volumes will increase dynamically during periods of treasury stress.

In the long run, this design will gradually dilute the token share of early holders, giving recent users a relatively more advantageous position in the token economy. The team describes this as a move toward fairer ecosystem growth, preventing early advantages from becoming overly entrenched.

Security Enhancements and Permission Controls

The upgrade also includes security improvements. A builder code feature will be introduced, initially accessible only to whitelisted addresses that pass review. Additionally, administrative permissions for certain core contracts will be adjusted to guard against potential attacks involving excessive Gas consumption. The team plans to announce the upgrade once it enters the timelock, with deployment expected about 24 hours later, though the final timeline remains subject to security audits.
