August Performance Snapshot: Robinhood's Assets Under Custody Climb to $384B
Robinhood Markets released its operational metrics for August 2026, revealing continued expansion across key areas. The total value of assets held on the platform reached $384 billion by the end of the month, marking an 8% increase from July and a substantial 26% rise compared to the same period last year.
Growing User Base and Sustained Capital Inflows
The platform's funded customer count grew to 28.6 million in August, adding approximately 120,000 new accounts during the month. Over the past year, the customer base has expanded by about 1.9 million.
A strong indicator of client engagement was the net deposits of $4 billion in August. This level of inflow represents an annualized growth rate of 14% relative to the platform's total assets in July.
Trading Activity: Equities Lead, Crypto Shows Monthly Recovery
Trading volumes across asset classes presented a mixed picture:
- Equities: Notional trading volume stood at $335 billion, up 1% from July and a significant 68% higher year-over-year.
- Options: Contracts traded totaled 293 million, down 10% sequentially but still 50% above the level from August of the previous year.
- Cryptocurrencies: Notional trading volume reached $17.5 billion. While this represents a 38% decline from a year ago, it surged 61% compared to July, suggesting a potential rebound in activity.
Of the total cryptocurrency volume, $7.4 billion was transacted through Robinhood's own application.
