Fintech Veteran Mike Cagney Raises $19M for Navra, a Gateway for Institutional Crypto Yield
Mike Cagney, the co-founder behind major fintech players SoFi and Figure, is back in the spotlight. His latest venture, Navra, has closed a heavily oversubscribed $19 million Series A funding round. The investment was led by fintech-focused venture firm Ribbit Capital, with participation from existing Figure backers Baseline and DCM. Strategic investors Jump Crypto and Figure Technology Solutions also joined the round.
Beyond Aggregation: Navra's Institutional Focus
Navra positions itself as more than a yield aggregator. It aims to build a secure, compliant, and integrated portal specifically for institutional players. The platform addresses key pain points for institutions exploring decentralized finance (DeFi), including fragmentation, technical complexity, and custody challenges.
Key Features of the Platform
The platform is built around several core components designed for professional use:
- Unified Multi-Chain Access: A single interface connects users to yield protocols across multiple blockchains and traditional fiat ramps, streamlining operations.
- Security Meets Compliance: It offers a “keyless” self-custody solution that meets qualified custody requirements, giving users control while providing the audit trails institutions need.
- AI-Powered Efficiency: Built-in AI agents are intended to automate aspects of investment strategy and risk management.
- Enterprise-Grade Tools: The institutional version includes essential features like team permissioning and full audit trail capabilities.
Partnerships and Launch Timeline
Figure has been announced as Navra's first blockchain partner. Navra has already integrated Figure's Democratized Prime yield protocol and its yield-bearing stablecoin, YLDS, which is registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The platform is scheduled for a limited launch in late October, initially available to a select group of partners and clients. Following this, Navra plans to roll out a white-label solution, enabling other financial institutions to offer customized services powered by its technology.
This successful fundraise underscores continued investor confidence in Cagney's vision and execution, as well as a growing appetite for infrastructure that bridges traditional finance with the crypto ecosystem on an institutional scale. All eyes are now on Navra's upcoming launch to see if it can become the preferred gateway for institutions seeking crypto yield.
