Streamlining Crypto Payments: Direct Top-Ups From Five Chains

Solayer Pay has rolled out a significant update to its payment application. Users can now directly top up their card balances with dollar-pegged stablecoins like USDC and USDT from five major blockchain networks: Solana, Ethereum, Arbitrum, BNB Chain, and Base.

Eliminating Intermediate Steps for Smoother Transactions

Previously, if a user's stablecoins were on a blockchain not natively supported by the app, they had to bridge or exchange them through a third-party service. This process added extra steps, incurred additional network fees, and introduced the risk of sending funds to incorrect addresses.

The new top-up mechanism simplifies this considerably. Users select the source network of their assets, and the funds are credited directly to their unified Solayer Pay balance. From there, the balance can be spent globally using a virtual or physical card, or used for mobile wallet and peer-to-peer payments.

The Practical Benefits of Simplified Funding

For users prioritizing convenience, reducing friction is the ultimate upgrade. The direct top-up feature delivers value by:

  • Lowering the Barrier to Entry: No need to navigate complex cross-chain bridging protocols.
  • Reducing Costs: Avoids extra fees from bridge services or exchanges.
  • Enhancing Security: Minimizes the number of transactions between different contracts, reducing error risk.

Adoption and Product Context

According to data provided by Solayer, its payment product currently serves over 45,000 cardholders. The product first launched in April 2025 under the name "Emerald Card" and later introduced a physical card option.

Key Considerations for Users

While the convenience is clear, users should be aware of important details:

First, depositing funds into a Solayer Pay balance means moving assets out of self-custody and into custody managed by the service provider. It is therefore crucial to understand the custodian's policies, the specific rules for withdrawals, and any potential account limitations.

Second, while Solayer Pay utilizes the Visa global acceptance network, this does not guarantee card availability or stablecoin top-up functionality in every region. User eligibility and specific features are subject to local regulations and service terms.

This update represents another step in streamlining the user experience for blockchain-based payments, abstracting away the complexity of a multi-chain ecosystem behind a simple top-up interface.
