OffMarket Opens for Public Use
On October 14th, StarkWare publicly released its privacy-focused trading tool, OffMarket. The service, which had been in limited testing since August, is designed to let Polymarket users place prediction market orders without publicly linking their positions to their on-chain accounts.
How It Works
OffMarket leverages zero-knowledge cryptography and a shared privacy pool on Starknet. Users deposit funds into this pool, which then facilitates their trades on Polymarket's main platform, obscuring the direct connection between individual accounts and specific trading activity.
- Non-Custodial Model: User private keys remain securely stored locally in their browser.
- Deposit Cap: A current limit of 1,000 USDC per account is in place, subject to future adjustment.
- Trade Execution: Prediction orders are still matched on Polymarket with the same counterparties at the same market prices.
Privacy Limits and Status
The tool enhances privacy but does not guarantee complete anonymity. All Polymarket transaction history remains publicly visible on the Polygon blockchain, displaying positions, order sizes, and trade history. Sophisticated observers might still infer identities by analyzing trading patterns, sizes, or timing.
OffMarket is not an official Polymarket product, nor does it involve a formal partnership or special access. It operates under Polymarket's Verified Builder program and inherits its geographic restrictions, including blocking users from the United States.
Compliance and Adoption
For compliance, an independent entity, Financial Privacy Inc., holds a master view key. This key is intended for sanctions screening and disclosing information only under lawful requests.
Data from L2BEAT indicates the Starknet privacy pool currently holds approximately $1.5 million across more than 17,000 user deposits.
