Sui Eliminates Fees for Stablecoin Transfers
In a major move to streamline digital payments, the Sui Network has introduced a groundbreaking feature: gas-free stablecoin transfers. Users and businesses can now send stablecoins peer-to-peer without incurring any transaction fees. Crucially, this process does not require holders to maintain a separate balance of SUI tokens to cover network costs, significantly simplifying the user experience.
Technical Foundation and Broad Compatibility
This zero-fee capability is powered by Fireblocks, a premier platform for digital asset security, and is being rolled out progressively on the Sui mainnet. It is built upon Sui's newly launched Address Balances system, a novel account architecture designed to streamline on-chain fund storage and movement while maintaining the network's high throughput and scalability.
The upgrade supports a wide array of leading stablecoins, including:
- USDsui
- SuiUSDe
- AUSD
- FDUSD
- USDB
- USDC
- USDY
Powering the Next Generation of Finance
Sui has already established substantial momentum in stablecoin activity, with total transfer volume surpassing $1 trillion since August 2025. The introduction of gas-free transfers is seen as a pivotal evolution in its roadmap.
Network officials state that this upgrade will further cement Sui's role as essential infrastructure for enterprise payments, fintech applications, and automated transaction scenarios for AI agents. By removing a fundamental cost barrier, Sui is positioning itself at the heart of a more efficient and accessible global financial ecosystem.
