Gold Allocation Strategy Revealed

In a recent interview, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino disclosed plans to allocate 10%-15% of the company's portfolio to physical gold. This move highlights gold's role as a safe-haven asset and reflects the company's anticipation of future market volatility.

Tether acquired an additional 27 tons of gold in the fourth quarter and now holds around 130 tons. Although Ardoino did not reveal the total value of the company's portfolio, he noted that approximately 2 tons of gold are purchased weekly.

Quarterly Adjustment Approach

Importantly, Tether has not set a fixed gold purchase target. Instead, the company intends to determine gold acquisitions based on quarterly assessments of market conditions. This flexible strategy enables Tether to maintain control during price fluctuations and avoid risks associated with rigid targets.

  • 10%-15% of assets allocated to gold
  • Approximately 2 tons purchased weekly
  • Acquisition plans adjusted quarterly

While this strategy has sparked discussions about gold allocation, Tether clearly aims to strengthen its asset diversification and stability through gold.
