Tezos Achieves Major Protocol Upgrade
The global leading proof-of-stake (PoS) layer-one blockchain, Tezos, recently completed its 20th protocol upgrade named Tallinn. This marks a significant milestone in the network's evolution, offering users a more efficient and seamless blockchain experience.
Block Time Reduced to 6 Seconds
One of the most notable enhancements introduced by the Tallinn upgrade is the reduction of the base layer block time to just 6 seconds. This improvement is expected to significantly speed up transaction confirmations and enhance overall network performance.
Lower Storage Costs and Reduced Latency
In addition to improving block times, Tallinn implements underlying optimizations that lower storage costs and reduce network latency. These updates mean users can expect lower fees and faster finality.
Full Network Validator Participation
Under the updated protocol, all network validators can now confirm each block, a departure from the prior system where only a subset of validators participated. This change further strengthens network security and decentralization.
Looking Ahead
The Tezos team emphasized that the Tallinn upgrade is a crucial step toward a more scalable blockchain ecosystem. Future updates are expected to continue pushing the boundaries of blockchain technology and enabling broader adoption.
