Trump Files Lawsuit Against JPMorgan Chase

Former U.S. President Trump filed a lawsuit against JPMorgan Chase and its CEO Jamie Dimon on Thursday, seeking $5 billion in damages. The suit accuses the bank of defaming him and breaching implied contracts.

The complaint alleges that JPMorgan Chase abruptly closed Trump's personal and business accounts in late January 2021, shortly after he left office, without prior notice or justification, causing significant financial and reputational harm.

Bank Denies Political Motivation

JPMorgan Chase has denied the claims, stating that it does not close accounts based on political or religious views. However, Trump's legal team argues that the closure was politically motivated, violating principles of fair business conduct.

The suit also accuses Dimon of violating Florida's Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, adding another layer to the legal battle.

Trump Previously Criticized Banking Practices

Before the lawsuit, Trump had repeatedly criticized banks like JPMorgan for refusing to serve clients based on ideological differences. This case has reignited debates over financial institutions' neutrality and accountability.
