UAE Launches ‘End of Battle’: A Major Blow to International Cybercrime

In a coordinated strike against digital underworld operations, Sharjah Police and the UAE Interior Ministry have executed a major law enforcement campaign named ‘End of Battle.’ The operation delivered a significant setback to sophisticated transnational criminal enterprises.

Decisive Action: Four Interlinked Networks Dismantled

Authorities successfully dismantled four interconnected international crime syndicates. The sweep resulted in the arrest of 33 key individuals spanning 12 different nationalities, including several principal organizers. This move effectively severed the command structure of these pervasive networks.

A Spectrum of Illegal Activities

Investigations revealed that the dismantled groups were involved in a wide array of criminal operations, forming an extensive illicit ecosystem:

  • Cyber Intrusions & Data Crimes: Carrying out system breaches, stealing sensitive data, and trafficking it illegally.
  • Financial Offenses: Specializing in money laundering while generating profits through digital wallet theft and various fraud schemes.
  • Extortion & Violence: Engaging not only in online blackmail but also in physical assaults, posing direct threats to victims.

Substantial Outcomes: Assets Frozen, Institutions Shielded

The operation yielded extensive results. Law enforcement seized assets—including cash, properties, and luxury vehicles—valued at over 200 million UAE Dirhams (approximately $54.5 million). Simultaneously, more than 3,000 digital wallets linked to the networks are under forensic examination to trace illicit fund flows.

Critically, the operation preempted potential large-scale cyber attacks. By intervening proactively, authorities safeguarded more than 30 corporations and critical institutions worldwide from compromise and extortion, protecting assets estimated to be worth over 65 billion Dirhams (about $17.7 billion). This action not only prevented financial loss but also secured the operational integrity and reputation of the targeted entities.

This high-profile and effective campaign underscores the UAE's resolute commitment to combating evolving forms of transnational cybercrime and sets a new benchmark for international cybersecurity collaboration.
