US Military Aircraft to Leave Key Israeli Airport
Israel's Ministry of Transportation has confirmed reaching a mutual understanding with US military authorities regarding the stationing of aircraft. The agreement outlines an accelerated timeline for moving US military planes currently deployed at Ben Gurion International Airport.
Phased Relocation to Air Bases
The agreed plan involves a staged withdrawal. The first group of 30 US military aircraft will be gradually relocated from the civilian airport to designated air bases within Israel by the 30th of this month. The remaining 20 aircraft will follow suit in a subsequent phase.
Security Provisions in the Agreement
The understanding includes a notable contingency clause. It permits US aircraft to return to Ben Gurion Airport within a 72-hour window if the local security situation deteriorates significantly. This provision offers operational flexibility for both parties in case of emergencies.
