Circle's Revenue Soars on the Back of USDC Ecosystem
Fresh data from Circle reveals a robust financial performance for the first half of 2026, with the stablecoin issuer generating approximately $1.4 billion in revenue. This figure underscores the significant economic engine powering the USD Coin ecosystem.
Revenue Sharing: Partners Claim Majority of Gains
Out of the total $1.4 billion, around $819 million was allocated to USDC distribution partners and used to cover transaction costs. For every dollar Circle earned, roughly 59 cents flowed back to its ecosystem collaborators, highlighting a partnership-centric business model.
The Incentive Model: Scale Dictates Earnings
Circle's profit-sharing mechanism is straightforward: a partner's earnings are directly proportional to the amount of USDC they bring onto the platform and hold in custody. The more USDC a partner's platform holds and grows, the larger its share of the reserve revenue.
This model has proven effective. Coinbase, as the largest partner, achieved a record-high average USDC balance of $20 billion within its products in Q2, representing a 44% year-over-year increase.
A Thriving Network: On-Chain Activity Skyrockets
The adoption and utility of USDC are reflected in staggering on-chain metrics. During the same period, USDC's on-chain settlement volume surpassed $36 trillion. The total amount minted and redeemed exceeded $315 billion, averaging about $1.7 billion per day. These numbers point to intense demand for USDC and its growing role as critical financial infrastructure within global payment networks.
