Circle Targets Growth in Emerging Markets with USDC Expansion

Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire recently outlined ambitious global expansion plans for the company. Driven by growing organic demand for stablecoins, Circle is shifting its focus toward approximately 40 emerging economies across Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East.

Strong Financial Performance: $1.4 Billion Revenue in H1

According to the latest financial report, Circle generated approximately $1.4 billion in revenue during the first half of 2026. Of this amount, around $819 million was allocated to incentives for USDC distribution partners and related transaction costs. An additional $473 million was invested in infrastructure expansion, compliance enhancements, and product development.

USDC's Dominance Grows with $36 Trillion in On-Chain Volume

Circle's report indicates that the cumulative on-chain transaction volume for USDC has surpassed $36 trillion. In June, USDC accounted for roughly 77% of all stablecoin transfer volume, a significant increase from 60% during the same period last year, underscoring its expanding market share.

Market Context: Liquidity Tightens Amid Challenges

The broader cryptocurrency market is currently facing headwinds. At the start of Q4, the total market capitalization of all stablecoins failed to break through the $310 billion threshold. Meanwhile, Bitcoin's price retreated by about 2.5%, unable to reclaim the $90,000 level. The total value locked in DeFi protocols declined by over $6 billion this month, highlighting market concerns about tightening liquidity.

Circle's large-scale push into emerging markets is seen as a strategic move to capture growth during an industry recalibration. As global demand for digital currency payments and cross-border settlements increases, these regions could represent the next frontier for stablecoin adoption.
