Institutional Bitcoin Accumulation: Strive Adds 6,000+ BTC in One Week
Nasdaq-listed Strive Asset Management (ASST) has made another substantial move in the cryptocurrency market, according to a recent 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Between October 17 and 23, the company acquired 6,182 Bitcoin at an average price of $82,732 per coin, including fees and expenses.
Holdings Cross Key Threshold
This aggressive accumulation boosted Strive's total Bitcoin holdings from 36,818 to 43,000 coins, surpassing the psychologically significant 40,000 BTC mark. Based on current market valuations, the newly acquired Bitcoin is worth approximately $511 million, bringing the company's total Bitcoin portfolio value to over $3.5 billion.
Cash Reserves Show Parallel Growth
Notably, while expanding its Bitcoin position, Strive also increased its cash and cash equivalents from $317.5 million to $504.4 million—a net gain of $186.9 million. This suggests the company isn't going "all-in" on cryptocurrency but rather making strategic digital asset allocations while maintaining strong liquidity.
Other holdings remained stable during this period:
- STRC preferred shares from Strategy Capital unchanged at 505,000 units
- Fair value maintained at approximately $50.18 million
Equity Structure Adjustments
The filing also revealed adjustments to the company's equity structure:
- Class A common shares increased from 114.8 million to 118.1 million
- 7 million new 15.00% SATS perpetual preferred shares issued
- SATA preferred shares unchanged at 14.03 million
As of October 23, the fully diluted share count stands at approximately 130 million. These equity adjustments coincide with the company's cryptocurrency strategy, indicating a comprehensive approach to balance sheet optimization.
A Vote of Confidence in Bitcoin
Strive's substantial accumulation comes during Bitcoin's recovery from summer lows, interpreted by market observers as a strong vote of confidence in the digital asset's long-term value. As a publicly traded asset manager on Nasdaq, Strive's disclosures provide traditional financial markets with visibility into institutional cryptocurrency strategies.
This move not only solidifies Strive's position as a major Bitcoin holder among institutions but could also influence asset allocation decisions at other public companies and asset managers. As more traditional financial institutions incorporate Bitcoin into their portfolios, the cryptocurrency market's structure continues to evolve significantly.
