Baidu Intelligent Cloud Restructures: A New Three-Division Blueprint
Baidu's cloud computing arm, Baidu Intelligent Cloud, has recently implemented a significant internal reorganization of its product and research units. This move goes beyond a simple renaming exercise, representing a strategic realignment of its core business segments to sharpen its focus in the competitive AI cloud services market.
Realigned Business Units for Clearer Focus
The most notable change is the dissolution of the former Platform Products Division, which has been replaced by a newly established Agent Division. Critical businesses previously under the old division, including the Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) operations, the Qianfan brand, and related product systems, have been transferred to the Infrastructure Division. In a parallel move, the Data Platform Department has been renamed the Data Intelligence Department and integrated into the Intelligent Applications Division, formerly known as the Application Products Division.
This reshuffle results in a streamlined structure comprising three distinct divisions, each with a well-defined mission.
Leadership Roles Defined Under New Structure
The leadership and scope for each of the three new divisions are now clear:
- Hou Zhenyu heads the Infrastructure Division, overseeing AI infrastructure (AI Infra) and Agent infrastructure (Agent Infra), providing the foundational computational and platform support for upper-layer services.
- Yin Dawei leads the newly formed Agent Division. This team will concentrate on developing and commercializing agent products such as "Baidu Dazi," "Miaoda," and "Famou."
- Ruan Yu manages the Intelligent Applications Division, responsible for products like "Baidu Yijian," "Hogee," and "Shengsuan," along with deep-dive industry solutions for sectors like transportation and finance.
All three division heads report directly to Shen Dou, Executive Vice President of Baidu Group and President of the Intelligent Cloud Business Group, ensuring tight strategic alignment and execution.
Decoding the Strategic Shift
The reorganization signals several strategic priorities for Baidu Intelligent Cloud. Integrating MaaS into the Infrastructure Division reinforces its role as a fundamental, utility-like service—the "plumbing" of the AI stack. The creation of a standalone Agent Division highlights Baidu's commitment to treating AI agents as a primary product category and key growth driver. The continued focus on the Intelligent Applications Division underscores the importance of delivering tailored, end-to-end solutions for specific vertical industries.
This new three-tier "Infrastructure-Agent-Application" architecture is designed to create clearer accountability, reduce internal friction, and enable a more agile response to both market demands and technological evolution.
