Significant Headwinds for Bitcoin ETFs: Weekly Outflows Hit Record High
Market data reveals a challenging week for Bitcoin spot ETFs between June 22 and June 26. The sector witnessed a substantial net outflow of $1.79 billion, marking the third-largest weekly withdrawal since these products launched, signaling heightened caution among investors.
Diverging Flows Among Major Funds
The outflows were concentrated in a few key players:
- BlackRock's IBIT led the retreat with a weekly net outflow of approximately $1.303 billion. Despite this, the fund's total historical net inflows remain robust at $60.77 billion.
- Fidelity's FBTC followed, seeing $315 million in net outflows last week, bringing its lifetime net inflows to $10.14 billion.
Grayscale's Mini Trust Bucks the Trend
Amid the broad exodus, one product stood out. Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust (BTC) attracted a net inflow of about $71.7 million, making it the only major fund to see positive flows for the week. Its cumulative net inflows now total $2.38 billion.
Overall Market Snapshot and Implications
As of the latest figures, the total net asset value for all Bitcoin spot ETFs sits at roughly $72.82 billion. These ETFs represent about 6.08% of Bitcoin's total market capitalization. Historically, the asset class has gathered a cumulative net inflow of $51.61 billion since inception.
This scale of weekly outflow often points to profit-taking or risk reduction by institutional and shorter-term investors, serving as a key sentiment gauge during periods of market volatility.
