Bitcoin Yield Platform Raises $5M to Monetize Idle BTC Holdings

A development group behind a platform designed to help Bitcoin holders generate yield from their assets has closed a $5 million seed funding round. The investment was led by Portal Ventures, with participation from Peer Venture Partners, Anchorage Digital Ventures, and several angel investors.

Funding Terms and Valuation

The company's co-founder and CEO stated that the round was structured using a SAFE (Simple Agreement for Future Equity) agreement coupled with 1:1 token warrants. The post-money valuation reached $30 million. All investors in this round did not receive board seats or advisory roles.

Core Mechanism: Earning Yield on Bitcoin

The platform's primary strategy transforms static Bitcoin holdings into productive assets. Users can deposit their Bitcoin as collateral to borrow stablecoins. These borrowed funds are then deployed into a curated set of yield-generating strategies.

Strategy Composition & Safeguards

  • Investment Vehicles: Strategies span U.S. Treasuries, fixed income, credit, gold, volatility, and options, creating a diversified return profile.
  • Collateral Custody: Bitcoin collateral can be held via on-chain smart contracts or through a tri-party custody arrangement involving the borrower, lender, and a qualified custodian. Established digital asset custodians currently serve the platform's clients.
  • Tech Infrastructure: The platform's architecture is deployed across multiple blockchain networks including Ethereum, Sui, and Solana for flexibility and access.

Target Return Profile

According to the founder, the underlying investment products target an approximate 10% annualized return. After accounting for borrowing costs and fees, the platform aims to deliver a net annualized return of roughly 2% to 4% on users' Bitcoin holdings.

Competitive Edge and Development Roadmap

When discussing competitors, the founder named several existing platforms. He highlighted that a key differentiator is the deep integration of custody, lending, and investment services within a single platform. Additionally, it offers a white-label solution, enabling institutional partners to offer these products under their own brand.

Launch Partner and Product Details

The inaugural strategy will utilize a fund managed by Simplify Asset Management, which oversees about $13.5 billion in assets. Alphaledger is responsible for the fund's administration and tokenization, with Amber Capital SPC acting as the issuer.

Launch Timeline and Business Model

  • Go-to-Market Plan: The platform is scheduled for launch in Q4 2026. The first product will be available to institutional investors outside the United States. A U.S. institutional product is planned to follow, with a retail product expected in Q1 2027.
  • Revenue Model: The company generates revenue by charging a platform fee on deployed capital.
  • Use of Funds: Proceeds from this round will be allocated to product development, deeper integration with custody and financing partners, legal/compliance work, and distribution channel expansion.

The development company was founded in October of last year and currently has a team of over 12 employees.
