AI Agents Get Spending Power: AIsa Secures Funding Led by Tether
The intersection of artificial intelligence and finance is heating up. AI startup AIsa, based in San Francisco, has closed an extension of its seed funding round with investments from stablecoin giant Tether and venture firm HIVEN. This latest infusion pushes the company's total funding to over $9 million.
Beyond Code: Enabling AI Economic Agency
AIsa's technology focuses on a foundational challenge: giving AI agents the ability to transact. Its platform allows autonomous AI agents to access online services and make payments independently, all within predefined spending limits. Think of it as providing AI with a programmable wallet and the means to use it.
The platform boasts integration with over 5,000 APIs, software tools, and AI models, creating a vast network of actionable services. AIsa reports that more than 250,000 agents are active on its platform, having processed over 100 million transactions to date. This enables new levels of automation in areas like customer service, data analysis, and business workflows.
Strong Investor Backing and Tether's Strategic Move
AIsa's investor roster already included prominent names such as the Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund, Tribe Capital, Sumitomo Corporation, Draper Associates, and Saison Capital. Prior to this round, the company had raised $6.5 million as of July. The additional $2.5+ million signifies continued confidence in its approach.
Tether made its investment through Tether Capital, its Salvadoran investment vehicle, explicitly framing it as part of its strategy in "AI-powered payments and programmable money." While the specific investment amount, valuation, and stake remain undisclosed, Tether's involvement brings significant resources from the stablecoin ecosystem. AIsa clarified that its settlement system supports both fiat and stablecoins, and that Tether did not mandate exclusive use of USDT, maintaining flexibility.
The Future: AI as an Economic Actor
This funding round highlights a broader shift: AI is evolving from a passive tool into an active economic participant. The entry of crypto-native leaders like Tether could accelerate the convergence of blockchain, stablecoins, and AI technology. We may be moving toward an internet where services are dynamically requested and paid for by legions of financially-enabled AI agents.
